James Brayboy, of Maxton, was born Dec. 29, 1932, to Dennis Brayboy and Willa Brayboy. He departed this life on April 18, 2012, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Hebron Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Brayboy was a deacon at Mt. Hebron Church for approximately 30 years. He also was one of the co-founders of Evans Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara L. Brayboy; his parents, Dennis and Willa Brayboy; his sister, Pearlie B. Locklear; and his brother, Larry Brayboy.
He is survived by his sons, Landis Brayboy and wife Marilyn L. Brayboy, Edward Brayboy and wife Hazel L. Brayboy, Gene A. Brayboy and wife Cheryl B. Brayboy, and James C. Brayboy and friend Sue Hunt; his daughter, Pattie B. Locklear and husband Mitchell Locklear; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Barney, Robert, Dennis Jr., and Danny Brayboy; five sisters, Myrtle, Brenda, Louise, Patricia and Judy Brayboy; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
