RALEIGH — A Lumberton physician pleaded guilty Thursday in Wake County District Court to tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Larry Adam Hearne, 62, of 202 Edinborough Drive, Lumberton, pleaded guilty to willful failure to file return, supply information, or pay tax.

District Court Judge James Fullwood sentenced Hearne to a 45-day jail term. The sentence was suspended and Hearne was placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months. Hearne was ordered to pay a fine of $300 and court costs.

Information presented in court showed that Hearne willfully failed to file his 2008, 2009 and 2010 individual income tax returns with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Hearne is employed by the Women’s Life Center in Lumberton.

The charges against Hearne resulted from an investigation by with the department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
