LUMBERTON — A 20-year-old woman is charged with robbing and beating a Lumberton woman during a home invasion on Sunday, according to Lumberton police, and a second person is charged with robbery in the incident.

The 24-year-old victim, Kayla Hester, did not suffer major injuries.

Adrianna Jolly and Candace Williams, 22, are accused of kicking in the front door of Hester’s Orange Street home at about 10 p.m. on Sunday, according to Capt. Terry Parker. Jolly then assaulted Hester with a handgun, and the two stole “an undisclosed amount of money.”

Jolly, who lives on Red Tip Drive, is charged with first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. She is being held under a $10,000 secured bond. Parker said the burglary charge accounts for Jolly’s role in the assault.

Williams, of Coleman Street, has been charged with conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. Her bond is set at $5,000.

“[Williams] was there but the victim said she didn’t take part in the assault on her so she wasn’t charged with breaking and entering,” Parker said, explaining the charges handed down by the magistrate.

Hester was home alone at the time, Parker said. She did not seek medical treatment.

Parker said more people were involved in the home invasion.

“There will be more arrests in the near future as the investigation continues,” he said.
