WHITEVILLE — Young girls will be whipped into shape this summer at the two-day Little Women of Excellence Beauty Boot Camp.

The second edition of this event will take place July 27-28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Victory In Jesus Ministries Church, 109 N. Madison St. in Whiteville. Up to 100 girls, ages 8 to 18, are expected to take part in the event that offers physical and spiritual development and an opportunity to hear and meet entrepreneurs, real-life singer/songwriters, authors, educators, business owners and more.

“Beauty Beyond Appearance is the motivation behind Little Women Of Excellence Beauty Boot Camp. This event is geared towards planting a good seed in the lives of young girls ages 8 to 18 years old,” said Shereese Cromartie, event founder and organizer.

The boot camp includes two days of information, hands-on workshops and other activities being presented at the camp. The campers will participate in hair styling, makeup, skin care, DIY fashion, social media do’s and don’ts, young entrepreneurship and a vision board party. They also will learn healthy family planning, early credit counseling, college living, attend a mini-concert and one high school senior will receive a $500 scholarship.

Cromartie is a licensed hair stylist with more than 20 years of experience.

“With the camp being biblically based, teaching self-value, morals, etiquette and character building, we want to instill God on the inside of them first, and then all the makeup and cute hair,” Cromartie said. “We’re bringing in successful speakers to share their stories of resilience and triumphs, showing the girls that your goals and dreams are reachable.”
