LUMBERTON — R. Eric Swenson will assume the mantle of Fairmont Rotary Club president in July.
Swenson attended president elect training in Greensboro in March, according to April Clark, District governor elect of Rotary International-District 7730. The training is used to prepare new leaders for the 51 Rotary clubs in District 7730, which covers Southeastern North Carolina.
Swenson, a bassoonist and member of a woodwind quintet, has been a member of the Rotary Club since January 2009. The retiree volunteers with Robeson County Church and Community Center.
The Fairmont Rotary Club is active in a number of community projects and initiatives. Among those projects is providing dictionaries for third-graders in area elementary schools and supporting the Fairmont Arts and Cultural Center.
