Quilts on display at gallery

BLADENBORO — The Bladenboro Art Gallery is displaying handmade quilts by Mary Pittman and her aunt Annie Singletary Davis until the end of August.

The quilts by Davis are from the early 1900s. The quilts by Mary Pittman are at least 50 years old, with the exception of a The Friendship Quilt, which was made in the 1980s. There are a variety of traditional patterns, including the Lone Star.

The Bladenboro Art Gallery is located in the Bladenboro Historical Society Building at 818 S. Main St. in Bladenboro. The gallery will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m., and other days and times by appointment. The phone number is 910-633-7982.
