PEMBROKE — A book release signing party for the newly published book “Southeastern Woodland Designs” will be held Tuesday at Cyna’s Jewelers.

Local Lumbee author Jamie K. Oxendine and illustrator Timothy P. Locklear II collaborated on the book and will sign copies and meet with guests from 2 to 4 p.m. The book-signing party is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Book proceeds will be funneled through the Community Enrichment Program and will benefit the Community Education Awards Program, and Community and Disabilities Services.

The book is filled with fun facts and ready-to-color symbols of ancient artifacts and designs of the American Indian Tribes of the Southeast woodlands of North America.

Oxendine is an educator, historian and speaker. He has been an adjunct professor of Native American Studies at Bowling Green State University, Ohio State University, University of Toledo, and Lourdes University, and has served as the Native American Liaison & Education consultant for Ohio University.

He has served on the board of trustees for the Ohio Humanities Council, board of trustees for the Fallen Timbers Battlefield Preservation Commission and asgovernor appointee to the Ohio Historic Site Preservation Board.

Cyna’s Jewelers is located at 103 E. Third St. in Pembroke.
