Purple Door seeks performers for 2018-19 season

LUMBERTON — Purple Door Productions will hold auditions for its 2018-19 show season Aug. 4 and Aug. 7.

The auditions will be in the A.D. Lewis Auditorium at Robeson Community College, located at 5160 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.

Shows include “The Secret Garden,” a Broadway musical based on Frances Burnett’s best-selling novel; “Dateline Greensboro,” a ‘1960s civil rights play by N.C. playwrights John Merritt, Brick Jackson and Paul Woolverton; “Disney’s Magic: Anyone Can Be a Star,” a movie music’s magic to empower the young; and “Much Ado about Nothing,” the Shakespeare meets Gershwin lawn picnic in 1940s North Carolina.

Auditions will be begin at 1 p.m. for ages 8 to 13 and at 2 p.m. for age 13 to adults. On Aug. 7 ages 8 to 13 will audition at 6 p.m, and ages 13 and up at 7 p.m.

Participants are asked to prepare short selections of two songs or a song and monologue.
