LUMBERTON — Mikele Buck, a current contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” will perform at Southeastern Health Foundation’s annual Boots & BBQ event on Oct. 25.

The event is scheduled for 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Southeastern North Carolina Agriculture Arena. Proceeds will benefit the Southeastern Health Foundation’s Hurricane Florence Disaster Relief Fund.

“As our communities start to recover and rebuild from Florence’s aftermath, the Southeastern Health Foundation Advocates are rebooting the eighth annual Boots and BBQ on Thursday, Oct. 25, with a goal to not only make a big impact on the needs of SeHealth’s Maternal/Child Health department but also support those experiencing the devastating effects of Hurricane Florence,” said Heather Walters, Southeastern Health Foundation Annual Giving specialist.

Proceeds raised by the advocates before Oct. 1 will benefit the 1,000 or more tiny patients who are cared for by Southeastern Regional Medical Center each year. Proceeds raised from Oct. 1 moving forward will benefit the Southeastern Health Foundation Hurricane Florence Disaster Relief Fund.

“Southeastern Health Foundation Advocates are a dedicated group of young professional leaders from throughout our area who are committed to their community,” said Sissy Grantham, Southeastern Health Foundation Executive director. “It is their goal to advance Southeastern Health for future generations to come. The Advocates are hopeful that, with the help of NBC’s ‘The Voice’contestant, Mikele Buck and his band, raising funds for the Southeastern Health Foundation Hurricane Florence Disaster Relief Fund will be a success,”

Buck has performed at Boots & BBQ for multiple years and was scheduled to perform on the original date of Sept. 28, the same week he auditioned and was selected as a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice.”

“Although the Advocates were confident in their decision to postpone Boots & BBQ, they knew without numerous things going the right way, it would be very difficult to get Mikele Buck back this year,” Walters said. “Thankfully, Mikele made every effort to honor his commitment to the Foundation Advocates and found a date he could perform. The Advocates, along with Mikele, are hopeful that together, they can increase awareness, support and funds for those who need it most.”
