LUMBERTON — Committed, a Christian a cappella act hailing from Huntsville, Alabama, will perform at the Carolina Civic Center in downtown Lumberton on Saturday.

Founded by students at Forest Lake Academy in 2003, Committed is made up of Robbie Pressley, Theron “Therry” Thomas, Maurice Staple, Dennis “DJ” Baptiste and Geston Pierre. The group gained national exposure after winning the second season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” in 2010.

That victory could have been a springboard to stardom, but the young singers decided to use their heavenly pipes for a higher calling.

“Committed truly believes that ‘with God all things are possible,’” the group’s website says. “And they will continue to work towards inspiring people through music.”

Tickets to the show are $23, or $17 each with the advance purchase of 10 or more tickets. The concert will kick off at 7 p.m. with the opening act being The Bobby Deal Family.

The Carolina Civic Center is located at 315 N. Chestnut St. in downtown Lumberton. For information, call 910-738-4339, or visit carolinaciviccenter.com.
