LUMBERTON — Deidre Chavis Powell, a certified family nurse practitioner, is accepting new patients.

Powell practices at Southeastern Medical Clinic Fairmont, an affiliate of Southeastern Health.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005, a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2009, and a master’s degree in Nursing from UNC-Wilmington in 2015.

Before joining Southeastern Health, she worked as a Medicaid nurse care manager for Community Care of North Carolina and as a registered nurse at Cape Fear Valley Health System.

Her areas of special interest include preventative care and management of chronic conditions, specifically diabetes and hypertension. She will treat adults and children over the age of 3 for any type of primary care-related medical issues.

Powell is a native of Pembroke and currently lives in Laurinburg with her husband and son.

Southeastern Medical Clinic Fairmont is located at 101 N. Walnut St. in Lumberton and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 910-628-0655 to schedule an appointment.
