LUMBERTON — A conference on Alzheimer’s disease has been scheduled for April 12 at Wesley Pines.

The conference, titled “Approaches to Alzheimer’s,” will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1000 Wesley Pines Road in Lumberton. The Robeson County End of Life Coalition is the conference sponsor.

The keynote speaker will be Lisa Gwyther, Duke Family Support Program director, and her presentation is titled “Supporting Families with Alzheimer’s.” Gwyther has written more than 100 articles on the topic and co-authored books, including a best-selling guide aimed at helping nursing home workers care for Alzheimer’s patients.

During her presentation, Gwyther will address how families caring for members with cognitive impairment face special challenges in talking with each other and professionals about how best to support or manage end of life care.
