Red Cross to hold two

blood drives this summer

MAXTON — The Red Cross is holding two upcoming blood drives in Robeson County.

The first will be at Purnell Swett High School on Tuesday form 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. High school seniors who donate blood over the summer will receive a Red Cord for graduation.

The Lumbee Tribe will hold a blood drive at the Pembroke Boys & Girls Club on Aug. 4 from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Donors should bring a photo ID and call 910-775-9071 to schedule a donation time.

Grand opening held for

Lumberton CrossFit gym

LUMBERTON — Robeson County will open its first CrossFit location in Lumberton on Wednesday.

Southeastern Health will host the grand opening and ribbon-cutting with the Lumberton Area Chamber of Commerce from 5 to 7 p.m. at 109 E. 24th St. beside Roses.

Free wellness event offers

screenings, healthy tips

PEMBROKE — Walmart will host a free community health and wellness day on Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Inside of the store, attendees will be offered a wide variety of health screenings, immunizations, food samples, eating and sun safety tips, tours of the Wellness of Wheels bus and blood pressure and diabetes screenings.

Registration can be completed at either of the main entrances to the store. The event is co-sponsored by Southeastern Health’s Community Health Services, Homegrown Health and Walmart. For information, call 910-671-5595.

Aug. 8 yard sale to benefit

American Heart Association

PEMBROKE — The Lumbee Regional Development Association will hold a benefit yard sale on Aug. 8.

The yard sale, which will benefit the American Heart Association, will be held at the association’s main office on 636 Prospect Road in Pembroke. The yard sale will begin at 7 a.m. and end at noon.
