LUMBERTON — A body was found Monday during a search for a missing Robeson County man, but lawmen aren’t ready to declare they are the same person.

The male body was found about 4:30 p.m. in woods off Pleasant Hope Road near the Fairgrove community, Sheriff Ken Sealey said. The body was sent to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh so an autopsy can be conducted.

“We are waiting on the results to get a determination on the cause of death and a positive identification,” Sealey said.

Monday’s search was the second conducted for Tomase Jermaine Bristow, who has been missing since Wednesday. The first search was conducted Thursday.

Bristow was last seen at Horne Camp and Fairgrove roads, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. He was last seen wearing a white tank top shirt. Bristow has a tattoo on his lower right arm that reads “Madison,” a tattoo on upper chest that reads “Bristow Boy” and a picture of a microphone and star on lower left arm.

The sheriff emphasized that the body’s identity has not been determined.

“We’re trying to get closure for the Bristow family if it is him,” Sealey said.

Anyone with information on Bristow’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170.

A relative of Bristow’s communicated by Facebook with The Robesonian, and said he is sure the body is his cousin.
