LUMBERTON — All Robeson County and city of Lumberton offices opened today on a two-hour dela, including the court system, and the county schools will send student home early.

Superior and District court sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. instead of 8:30. The delay is because of anticipated wind related to Hurricane Irma.

The Public Schools of Robeson County put out an alert that students will be sent home at noon, and that all after-school programs have been cancelled. The alert said the school system anticipates a normal schedule on Tuesday.

Robeson Community College operated on a normal schedule today.

According to the National Weather Service, Robeson County receive up to an inch or two of rain on Monday, with it beginning around 2 p.m., and sustained winds of 23 to 28 mph with gusts up to 41. There is a 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, with wind in the 13 to 18 mph range.

The Robesonian is attempting to get information from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke to see if its scheduled has been affected.
