FAIRMONT — Fairmont police have the identity of the person whose body was found last week beside a roadway, and say the person died after being hit by a car.

Police Chief Jon Edwards on Monday identified the person as Kesha Latonya Blue, 46, whose last known address was 904 Powell St., Lumberton. Edwards said an autopsy showed she died from injuries suffered when she was hit by a vehicle.

Fairmont police are asking anyone with information to call Edwards or Detective David Thompson at 910-628-9766.

Edwards said previously that a passerby found the body on Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. in tall weeds about 10 feet from the road on the 800 block of Cottage Road. Police say the body appeared to have been there a “couple of days” because it had begun decomposing.

“We did collect some evidence from the scene,” Edwards said last week.
