RED SPRINGS — Two men have been charged in the past two days in connection to crimes involving the use of a deadly weapon, according to information from the Red Springs Police Department.

Gregory Norris, 18, of 302 Hubert McLean Road, Red Springs, and Christopher Shaheim Lindsey, 22, of 201 Malpass Ave. in Red Springs, each were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. Norris turned himself in to lawmen and Lindsey was arrested at Westgate Terrace Apartments.

The statement said two men, both wearing masks, robbed two employees at Hardin’s Grocery, located at 806 S. Main St., as they were leaving the store about 12:30 a.m. and walking to their car in the parking lot. The men approached the two employees, ordered them to the ground and demanded the nightly deposit bag. The bag, which contained an undisclosed amount of money, was given to the assailants.

“We are not disclosing the amount because the investigation is ongoing,” police Capt. Kimothy Monroe said.

No one was injured, Monroe said.
