LUMBERTON — Parents looking for a controlled and safe environment where their children can pick up some sweet treats have several options throughout today.

And adults who like to dress up for Halloween have one as well.

The Lumberton Recreation Department and Vertical Church will co-sponsor the annual Candy Fest at Northeast Park from 6 to 9 p.m. The fest will include inflatables, costume contests, trunk-or-treating and other activities for children.

Another option for kids of all ages is the annual Fall Festival hosted by the First Baptist Church in Red Springs that will offer more than 50 trunks for kids to choose from. The festival is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will include free food, inflatable bounce houses, face-painting and a balloon artist. The church is located at 701 E. Fourth Ave.

In Fairmont, the Borderbelt Farmers Museum will hold its annual trick-or-treating event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. featuring the infamous Dr. Electrode and Yiva the Witch. The museum is located at 101 E. Thompson Ave.

The Evergreen Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has scheduled a Halloween Safe Night from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria parking lot at Evergreen Elementary School, 7211 Old Highway 74 in Evergreen. Admission is free for an evening of trunk-or-treating and games.

Adults might enjoy the Halloween costume party held at Adelio’s in downtown Lumberton. The party will kick off the premiere of producer Chuck Williams’ newest faith-based film, “Amazed by You.”

The party will run from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission is free. A $100 prize awaits the winner of the costume contest, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet Williams. Appetizers and drinks will be available for purchase.
