ST. PAULS — Challenger Donna Patterson squeaked out a win in one of two contested Board of Commissioners races, defeating an incumbent, and incumbent Annie Stephens kept the second by a more comfortable margin.

Patterson beat incumbent McClure “Buck” Terry Jr. by a vote tally of 44-43 to win the Precinct 4 seat. Stephens beat Bernard Stewart by a vote tally of 48 to 27 to keep the Precinct 2 seat.

Incumbent Elbert Gibson Jr. was unopposed in Precinct 1, winning 52 votes, and incumbent Deborah Inman was the sole candidate for the Precinct 3 seat. She received 28 votes.
