PEMBROKE — Winter Wonderland, three days of bright lights, entertainment and holiday fun, will help Pembroke usher in the Christmas season.

The event takes place at Milton R. Hunt Memorial Park on Third Street and begins Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. with a Christmas parade. The annual tree-lighting ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. with caroling. This year’s lighting will include public judging for the best tree. The evening will conclude with hot chocolate and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The seasonal merriment will continue Dec. 8 with the announcement of the winner of the tree-decorating contest, and pizza will be served. The night will end with popcorn and a movie at the park starting at 6:30 p.m.

Winter Wonderland concludes Dec. 9 with a full day of events. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be entertainment by Robeson Rockers, the Lumbee Ambassadors, and the Sheetrock Bucket Band. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the artist market will showcase local artists. Train rides, face painting, playing corn hole and horse shoes, and a story from Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be among the activities for children from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Big Boy’s Kitchen will be providing food all day.
