FAYETTEVILLE — The U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will conduct a field hearing on Friday in Fayetteville.

Rep. Robert Pittenger, whose District 9 includes all of Robeson County, will be a co-host of the hearing that will take place at 10 a.m. at Fayetteville Technical Community College in General Classroom Building rooms 108 and 114. The college is located at 2817 Fort Bragg Road.

Members of committee will examine Department of Veterans Affairs community care programs, including the Choice program.

“On average, my staff is working on 500 separate cases for local veterans,” Pittenger said. “Problems with the VA Choice program — both access for patients and prompt payment for providers — are one of the top issues we hear about. This hearing will be an important opportunity to discuss necessary strategies to improve service.”
