LUMBERTON — The Robeson Community College Alumni Association is stepping up to help relieve the financial burden of students seeking a higher education.
The association will be holdng the annual Robeson Community College Alumni Tour De Campus, 5K and the annual Robeson Community College Alumni Spring Fest on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities will take place at the college campus at 5160 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.
“The Alumni Spring fest is a time of celebration for our community and our college. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this day,” said Rebekah Revels Lowry, director of Foundation and Development at Robeson Community College.
Miss University of North Carolina at Pembroke Taley Strickland will perform at the event.
“We are here to serve as donors, to relieve some financial burden on the students in terms of their education and the Spring Fest is our biggest fundraiser that will help provide scholarships to students in need,” said Tim Sampson, president of the RCC Alumni executive committee
The event will include free food and snack packs for 100 children on a first-come, first-served basis. Motorcycles, inflatables, music, and vendors will be on site to provide fun activities.
The Monroe Riding Club is sponsoring the event.
Before the Spring Fest, there will be a Tour De Campus, hosted by the RCC Alumni Association.
The 3.1-mile course loops through and around the RCC campus. Awards will be given out at the end of the race.
There is no fee to enter the race. Donations to support Robeson Community College student scholarships are welcome.
