Maxton man faces rape charge

RAEFORD — A Robeson County man has been arrested and charged with a sexual assault that took place in Hoke County, according to that county’s Sheriff’s Office.

Dale Locklear, 44, of 719 Onnie and Joe Road in Maxton, was charged with felony second-degree forcible rape, misdemeanor sexual battery and misdemeanor assault on a female, according to information from Hoke County Sheriff Hubert A. Peterkin. Locklear was arrested Sunday and jailed under a $200,000 secured bond.

Hoke County deputies were called shortly after midnight Sunday in reference to a reported sexual assault at a residence on the 200 block of Sedona Court in Raeford, according to Peterkin. A female at was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries as detectives began an investigation.

Locklear was arrested later Sunday without incident, according to Peterkin. The investigation continues.
