Plate sale benefits families of fallen officers

LUMBERTON — The N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Prisons will hold a benefit plate sale for families of fallen coworkers Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The sale will take place at the Robeson County Farmers Market near the Southeastern North Carolina Agricultural Events Center, located at 1027 U.S. 74 East in Lumberton. It will assist the families of five fallen staff members at Bertie and Pasquotank correctional institutions in attending peace officer memorials in Washington, D.C., and Texas.

Plates will include chicken and barbecue with sides of cole slaw, baked beans, bread and a dessert. Plates are $7 for one meat and $8 for two. Group orders of five or more can be delivered.
