LUMBERTON — A Lumberton man was arrested Friday and charged with raping a child.

Darnell Singletary, 40, of the Lumberton area, was charged with statutory rape of a child, according to Capt. Brian Duckworth, of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. The alleged sexual assault was reported to the Sheriff’s Office about 7:47 a.m. on April 21.

Singletary was taken to the Robeson County jail and placed under a $125,000 bond, according to Duckworth. But a warrant was served revoking his bond until he goes before a magistrate who will set bond at that time.

The warrant was for a protective order and a threatening call, according to Duckworth.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Sgt. Detective Kevin Hickman at 910-671-3140.
