Showing respect for service

Friends, family members and Rep. Charles Graham surround Luther Jacobs on Saturday as he receives the Erma Hester Award from Luther Britt Park Supervisor John Jacobs. The award that pays tribute to a person who has served the West Lumberton community for many years was presented during 911 Community Day at Luther Britt Park in Lumberton. Jacobs has worked for the City of Lumberton for 57 years. The Community Day was a chance for residents get to know emergency services personnel and to celebrate West Lumberton’s recovery from the damage it sustained when Hurricane Matthew struck in October 2016.
