RED SPRINGS — A 27-year-old Red Springs man faces multiple charges following a shooting on Monday that left another man injured.
A.D. Smith Jr., of 107 Dallas Ave, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, larceny of motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to police Lt. Brent Atkins.
Atkins said police responded to a call at 11:27 a.m. about a shooting at Hardin’s Grocery Store at 806 S. Main St. and found Neal Godfrey Jr. with a single gunshot wound to his left leg and damage to his left hand. Godfrey told police he was shot and his vehicle taken by Smith.
Godfrey was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Atkins said Smith later turned himself in at the Red Springs Police Department. He had not been before a magistrate for the bond to be set when The Robesonian received this information.
