LUMBERTON — Lawmen are looking for a 23-year-old St. Pauls man who they say shot and killed another man on Saturday when a party became deadly.

According to Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Anthony Thompson, a warrant has been issued charging Christopher Ryan Locklear with first-degree murder in the death of William Jerome Williamson.

Thompson said in a statement that sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 2:10 p.m. Saturday about shots being fired at a birthday party taking place at 3075 Covington Farm Road in Shannon. They found Williamson, 34, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died later. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation led to the charges against Locklear. The Sheriff’s Office statement did not indicate a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information on Locklear’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3100 or to call 911. Callers can remain anonymous.
