LUMBERTON — A 23-year-old St. Pauls man accused of first-degree murder surrendered at the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday and has been charged with that crime.

According to Sheriff’s Office Maj. Anthony Thompson, Christopher Ryan Locklear walked into the Sheriff’s Office at 1:43 p.m. to face charges related to the shooting death of William Jerome Williamson at a party this past weekend. Locklear was placed in the county jail under no bond.

Thompson said previously that sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 2:10 p.m. Saturday about shots being fired at a birthday party taking place at 3075 Covington Farm Road in Shannon. They found Williamson, 34, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died later. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation led to the charges against Locklear. The Sheriff’s Office has given no motive for the shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide exact addresses for either Locklear or Williamson.
