RALEIGH — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has released information for those who want to attend the funeral of Trooper Kevin Conner, who was killed in the line of duty early Tuesday morning.

Conner worked previously as a Lumberton police officer and also worked out of the patrol’s Lumberton office for several years.

Services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at South Columbus High School, which is located at 40 Stallion Drive, Tabor City. People wishing to attend should follow message boards on U.S. 701 and at the school to the appropriate parking areas.

The North Carolina Troopers Association Caisson Unit will deliver Conner’s body at about noon to the high school’s auditorium.

The visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in the auditorium. The funeral will then follow, with seating available on first-come, first-served basis except for reserved seating. An outdoor ceremony will be held adjacent to the school’s auditorium in lieu of a public graveside memorial.

A private graveside memorial service will be held after the funeral ceremony for family and close friends only.
