LUMBERTON — Kellie Blue will have a new seat on Monday when Robeson County Board of Commissioners meets for the first time this year.

Blue, former assistant county manager, will no longer sit among the audience members but will pull up a chair beside board Chairman Jerry Stephens. In her new role she will advise commissioners on county business as the meeting proceeds and oversee the county’s day-to-day business.

Blue, the longtime finance officer for the county, replaced Ricky Harris, who retired Dec. 31.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the county’s administrative building at 700 N. Elm St. The Robesonian will live stream the meeting on Facebook.

Monday’s agenda includes three public hearings.

The first involves Barnes Farms Inc., in Back Swamp Township. The company is requesting that 111.95 acres of land be rezoned from Heavy Industrial to Residential Agricultural District.

Heather Wilkerson, of Parkton Township, will be asking the board for a conditional-use permit to allow for the establishment of a day support facility on a five-acre piece of land in a Residential Agricultural District.

During the third public hearing, Robin Oxendine, of Philadelphus Township, will request a conditional-use permit to allow the establishment of a family cemetery on a one-acre tract of land in a Residential Agricultural District.

The board is scheduled Monday to convene as the Housing Authority board of directors to take up a Federal Emergency Management Agency resolution and an insurance matter.

The commissioners are to take action on the appointment or reappointment of members to the Parks and Recreation board.
