LUMBERTON — A local man is in a hospital after being shot this evening at a residence on Nevada Street in Lumberton.

Police officers responded about 7:22 p.m. to a call about a man being shot at a home on the 2000 block of Nevada Street, according to the Lumberton Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found Damarko Williams, 20, had been shot. He was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center for initial treatment of his injuries and then flown out to another, undisclosed, hospital for further treatment.

Williams’ condition is not thought to be life-threatening, according to the police department.

Williams lives at an address outside Lumberton city limits.

Investigators still were at the scene gathering information about the shooting as of mid-evening, according to the police department.
