LUMBERTON — A 21-year-old Lumberton man was charged Wednesday for multiple drug offenses after a Lumberton traffic stop.

Luke Austin Gibson was arrested and charged with trafficking by possession of Schedule II controlled substance, trafficking by transport of Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Gibson was wanted by Robeson County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement for more charges in a separate drug investigation before his Wednesday arrest.

He also was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of Schedule II controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to sell deliver heroin, felony possession of Schedule II, dispense medication without a license, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Gibson was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $800,000 secured bond.

The Chevrolet Avalanche he was operating was stopped Wednesday on N.C. 711 in Lumberton by Drug Enforcement deputies and Lumberton police officers, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officers searched the vehicle and found a quantity of cocaine, prescription pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.
