LUMBERTON — Two unrelated vehicle chases over the weekend ended in the arrests of a 30-year-old Lumberton man and a 20-year-old Virginia man wanted in that state for sexual battery, but the search continues for a 23-year-old Pembroke man involved in a Saturday morning pursuit.

Quillan Everett Inman, of Lumberton, was arrested Saturday after he and Keno Chavis, of Pembroke, fled from Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Division investigators after they tried about 1:30 a.m. to stop the 2013 Toyota Corolla in which the two men were traveling on West Carthage Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The driver (Chavis) refused to stop for blue lights and sirens, which resulted in a vehicle pursuit,” a Sheriff’s Office statement reads in part.

The pursuit ended on Valtlee Drive in Lumberton, where investigators found “a quantity of cocaine, suboxone strips, four firearms, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Inman was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

The search continues for Chavis, who is charged with failure to stop for stop sign, driving left of center, felony fleeing to elude arrest and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

As the vehicle came to a stop, Chavis jumped out and ran through a mobile home park, where investigators lost sight of him, said Sheriff’s Office Maj. Damien McLean.

Anyone with information about Chavis’ whereabouts should call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170 or 910-671-3100.

Also fleeing from law enforcement was Damarius L. McCall, of Newport News, Virginia, who is wanted in Newport News, Virginia, on four counts of sexual battery. McCall did not stop for a sheriff’s investigator Friday after the investigator witnessed a hit-and-run on Interstate 95 South near mile marker 26 about 8:30 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The investigator attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver refused to stop for blue lights and sirens. The vehicle pursuit ended near the intersection of Hwy 211 W. and Snipes Rd., Lumberton after exiting I-95 at mile marker 20,” a Sheriff’s Office statement reads in part.

“The investigation resulted in the seizure of thirty-one (31) financial cards that were registered in different names. The vehicle was also reported stolen in Virginia,” the statement reads.

He was given a citation by the State Highway Patrol for the “collision on I-95.”

He was charged with felony eluding arrest and being a fugitive from justice. McCall was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond for the eluding arrest charge and no bond for the fugitive from justice charge.
