LEGISLATORS’ CORNER

The past few weeks have been busy and exciting for our office.

Students at Robeson Community College are flourishing.

In April, seven students from RCC were sent to the Region 7 AISES Conference at NASA Langley, where they were able to connect with peers and gain valuable information for their future careers and studies. What an amazing opportunity!

In May, RCC’s Associate Nursing Program graduated 31 students who will go on to become nurses upon passing the National Council Licensure Examination. Congratulations to all the graduates.

Our office was honored to sponsor two Senate Pages from District 24 this Summer — Abigail Jacobs from Robeson County and Natalee Jackson from Scotland County.

We hope they had an amazing experience during their time here at the NC General Assembly.

UNC Pembroke and Robeson Community College are expanding.

The UNC Board of Governors recently approved UNC Pembroke to offer a Doctor of Optometry (OD) program and a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. The Optometry program is expected to launch in Fall 2027, and the fully online Healthcare Administration program will begin in Fall 2025.

Lumbee River EMC is partnering with Robeson Community College to introduce a Lineman Program to Robeson County. The construction is set to finish in the next few weeks and the first class will begin on July 16.

We hope these additions will greatly benefit our community and look forward to seeing what comes of these new opportunities.
