LUMBERTON — A 24-year old Shannon man is in stable condition after being shot at a graduation party Saturday morning and a warrant has been issued for the suspect.

According to a statement from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, Joshua Woods, of Lyndsey Lane was shot as people were leaving a graduation party for a relative at his Shannon home at about 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Woods went to the road to ask guests parked in a vehicle to leave when an “altercation happened between Woods and another man,” the statement said. Multiple shots were fired, apparently striking Woods in the head.

Woods was flown to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and, on Sunday evening, was in stable condition.

Authorities have identified Charles Hunt, 21, of Milestone Road in Lumberton, as the shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Hunt is considered armed and dangerous.
