MAXTON — A Maxton man has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in the death of a 68-year-old woman in a crash Saturday on McGirt Road near Juanita Road in Maxton.
Ethel Mae Locklear was a passenger in a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu when it was struck head on by a 2011 Honda CRV that drove left of the centerline, according to C.L Oxendine with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Beyond the fatality, five other people — two in the Malibu and three in the CRV sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Oxendine said everyone was wearing seatbelts.
