LUMBERTON — Monday’s meeting of the Lumberton City Council will include a public hearing on a proposed after- school program on West Carthage Road.

The Rock Church of God is asking for a conditional-use permit needed to operate the program in the church, which is located at 2208 W. Carthage Road.

According to the permit application, the church plans to host 50 to 100 children ages 5 to 14 for after-school programs. Hours of operation would be weekdays from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The council will also finalize votes taken during its Council Policy Committee meeting on Wednesday, including awarding financing for 15 police vehicles to Lumbee Guaranty Bank, purchasing property adjacent to the Public Works building for $13,600 to store pipes and other equipment and purchasing a new truck for meter technicians.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall at 500 N. Cedar St.
