LUMBERTON — In an effort to keep children, family, friends and the community safe, anyone with expired or unused prescription or over-the-counter medicine is asked to drop off the medications today.
Operation Medicine Drop is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Biggs Park Mall, located at 2391 N. Roberts Ave., Lumberton.
Medications are the leading cause of child poisoning, with more than 64,000 children going to an emergency room for medicine poisoning each year, according to a study by Safe Kids Worldwide. That’s one child every eight minutes.
