LUMBERTON — Robeson County residents are being offered a chance next week to have their pets vaccinated against rabies at a reduced cost.
All six county animal hospitals are participating in the annual Robeson County rabies clinic, said Dr. David Brooks, of Pembroke Veterinary Hospital. The clinic will be held on April 14 and April 15, when the cost of the shot will be $8 per animal.
“They don’t have to have an appointment,” Brooks said. “They can just do a walk-in.”
The clinic is the result of a state mandate offer reduced-rate vaccinations. Each county has the freedom to set its own date for the program.
Southeastern Veterinary Hospital in Lumberton, Baird’s Animal Hospital in Lumberton, South Robeson Veterinary Hospital in Fairmont, North Star Veterinary Hospital in Parkton and North End Veterinary Clinic in Lumberton are the other participating veterinary clinics.
