Pittenger gives McGirt a shoutout for Masters finish

LUMBERTON — U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger released a statement on Monday congratulating Fairmont native William McGirt on his finish at The Masters.

Pittenger, a republican from Charlotte who represents District 9, which includes all of Robeson County, was in attendance for Saturday’s third round..

“Congratulations to William McGirt for finishing in the top 25 in his first appearance at The Masters,” Pittenger said in the statement.

McGirt finished tied for 22nd in his debut at Augusta National.

“On Saturday, my grandson and I watched Mr. McGirt tee off on the first hole. He is a true gentleman and continues to make Robeson County proud through his hard work and humility.”

McGirt will be back in action this week in Hilton Head, South Carolina, at the RBC Heritage.
