TROPICAL STORM DEBBY
LUMBERTON — The Lumber River reached its highest point today (Friday) at 20.36 feet, about as foot higher than was predicted before Tropical Debby visited Robeson County in the past few days.
The river is at flood stage when it reaches 13 feet as it flows past Lumberton.
The National Weather service issued a Flood Warning for Lumberton and Robeson County “until further notice,” meaning flooding is taking place and anyone in the flooded areas should seek higher ground immediately.
The river has inundated more than 50 residences along its banks in Lumberton with “extensive flooding … along the river and several roads will be closed especially in the Pines area and Cox’s Pond area. Carthage Road may be completely covered with water.”
