LUMBERTON — The local N.C. Cooperative Extension office has scheduled this year’s Spring Alternative Farm Tour for March 29.
Local farmers interested in learning about alternative agricultural techniques should gather by 8 a.m. at O.P. Owens Agriculture Center, located at 455 Caton Road in Lumberton, to register. The tour will depart O.P. Owens at 8:30 a.m.
Tour participants will visit Herndon Farm and New Ground Farm, where they will see the use of alternative systems. Growers will have the opportunity to see an organic produce, a small-scale livestock operation and a high-tunnel production.
The tour is scheduled to end at O.P. Owens by 12:15 p.m.
Transportation and light refreshments will be provided. Those interested in participating must register by March 28.
