PEMBROKE — The N.C. Department of Labor will recertify Metcon as a participant in the Carolina Star Program at 11:45 a.m. Friday.

Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry will deliver the keynote address and present Metcon CEO and President Aaron Thomas with the acrylic star award during the ceremony, which will take place at the construction site for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s School of Business.

The company was first certified a Carolina Star in 2014 and was recertified in 2017. Metcon has been active in the planning of every Carolina Star Conference since 2014.

The Carolina Star Program is designed to recognize employers and employees who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates that meet the criteria for participation. Participants in the Carolina Star Program are self-sufficient in their ability to control hazards at the worksite.
