PEMBROKE — An associate professor at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has been named North Carolina School Counselor Association Educator of the Year.

Jeff Warren was presented the honor during the association’s annual conference, which took place Nov. 8 to 10 in Greensboro.

Receiving the award helps demonstrates the quality of the school counseling program, Warren said.

“It is also a testament of the support and mentoring I have received from UNCP School of Education Dean Dr. Alfred Bryant and Associate Dean Dr. Angela McDonald,” he said.

The honor represents Warren’s commitment to preparing school counselors to support students with academic, social, and career development.

“I am very fortunate to be a part of a group of colleagues here at UNCP that are supportive and encouraging of my efforts as a faculty member and school counselor educator,” he said.

Warren also has 12 years of counseling experience as a school counselor, licensed professional counselor, clinical supervisor, school-based mental health counselor, and counselor educator.

His first book, “School Consultation for Student Success: A Cognitive Behavioral Approach,” is set to be released by Springer Publishing in December.
