Mahlea Hunt

LUMBERTON — Mahlea Hunt, a rising ninth-grader at Purnell Swett High School, will compete in the National Junior Beta Club Talent Competition in Nashville on Friday.

In early February, Hunt, along with the other members of the Junior Beta Club at Prospect School, attended the State Junior Beta Club Convention in Greensboro. During the convention, Hunt took first place while competing against 62 other contestants in the convention’s Talent Competition. Her talent was singing.

“A beautiful voice from wonderful young lady,” said Jonathan Blue, principal of Prospect School.

She is the daughter of Brent and Celeste Hunt. She will be accompanied to Nashville by her parents, school administrators, sponsors and other members of the Junior Beta Club.
