Red Devils shut out South Brunswick

RED SPRINGS — Behind a trio of interceptions, the Red Springs football team opened the Lawrence Ches era with a 33-0 shutout of visiting South Brunswick.

Bobby McRae had an interception returned for a touchdown, while fellow defensive backs Corey Newton and Monte’ Wilkerson added interceptions of their own. On the offensive side of the ball, Wilkerson and Newton were on the receiving end of quarterback Denym McKeithan’s three touchdowns with Wilkerson grabbing two.

Lee McLean also added a rushing touchdown.

Fairmont adjusts in win over Eagles

FAYETTEVILLE — After making trips to the red zone early in the game and coming away empty-handed, Fairmont was able to capitalize later in the game to top Douglas Byrd 26-15 to give coach Kevin Inman his first win of his coaching career.

Derrick Arnette threw three touchdown passes, two to Jordan Waters and one to Nalijha Pittman in the second-half of the win. Dom Cummings also added a pick six for the Golden Tornadoes.

Dillon routs Lumberton on the road

LUMBERTON — Dillon’s offense and defense had no trouble on the road against Lumberton as it defeated the Pirates 42-0.

Lumberton’s Braylan Grice rushed for 27 yards and De’onnta McCallum, Jaylen Whitted and Devonta McKoy each had eight takcles.

Dillon’s Zareon Hayes rushed for 127 yards and Jallian Williams had 125 yards.
