LUMBERTON — The first-round pairings and times have been set for the Robeson County Slugfest that will be played at Lumberton on Saturday and next Monday and Tuesday.

On the baseball side, St. Pauls and Red Springs will open the tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, five days removed from a regular season meeting. South Robeson takes on Fairmont at 1 p.m. The winners of those matchups will play at the 4 p.m. semifinal game on Monday, and the losers will meet in the elimination game on Monday at 10 a.m.

Top-seeded Hoke takes on West Bladen at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and then host Lumberton plays against Purnell Swett at 7 p.m. Those winners play in the 7 p.m. semifinal on Monday and the losers play at 1 p.m.

In softball, the first-round starts off with Purnell Swett and West Bladen in the first game at 10 a.m., followed by Fairmont and St. Pauls at 1 p.m. Red Springs plays Hoke at 4 p.m., and the host and top seed Lumberton plays at 7 p.m. against South Robeson.

The winner of the West Bladen and Purnell Swett contest takes on whoever wins the Red Springs and Hoke matchup in the 4 p.m. semifinal on Monday, while the losers play at 10 a.m. Winners between Fairmont and St. Pauls, and Lumberton and South Robeson will face off at 7 p.m. in the semifinals Monday, and the losers will play at 1 p.m.

The placing games on Tuesday for softball and baseball will be at 1 p.m. for the fifth-place game, 4 p.m. for the third place game and 7 p.m. for the championship
