LUMBERTON — Morgan Britt and LeeAnn Nobles both hit home runs to help the Lumberton softball team earn a convincing 11-2 victory over Pinecrest on Thursday night.
Britt finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Lady Pirates (9-2, 5-1 SAC). She also tallied seven strikeouts and two walks while allowing five hits in the circle.
Nobles drove in two runs and scored two more while going 1-for-4 at the plate. Rachel O’Neil went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Nobles drove in Madison Canady with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Britt’s two-run blast came in the following inning, increasing Lumberton’s lead to 9-2.
Ashley Prevatte, who finished with three RBIs, drove in the final two runs for the Lady Pirates with a single to right field in the sixth inning.
Lumberton is now on a four-game win streak heading into the Robeson County Slugfest this weekend.
In baseball, Pinecrest pitcher Nick Pry held Lumberton to two-hits in his complete game shut out as the Patriots won 6-0 on the road.
Austin Gist and Dylan Bruce had the only hits for the Pirates (2-7, 1-6 SAC).
Pry struck out 11 in the victory and Dax Ingram went 2-for-4 with a double.
Lady Pirates tie on pitch with Hoke
RAEFORD — After falling behind by two goals at the half, the Lumberton girls soccer team quickly rebounded to tie the game, but was unable to find the game-winning goal in a 2-2 tie on the road at Hoke.
After the Lady Bucks took a 2-0 lead into intermission, Lacey Malinsky and Christina Dickerson scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to knot the score, but neither team found the back of the net the rest of the way.
Jack Britt shuts down Lady Rams
FAYETTEVILLE — Jack Britt pitcher pitched a two-hitter at home as the Lady Bucs earned a 12-2 win over Purnell Swett in five innings.
Madison Strickland hit a two-run homer and JaiLeana Deese had a single as the only base knocks for the Lady Rams.
