GREENSBORO — The Region 4 softball team at the Powerade State Games claimed fourth on Wednesday after falling to Region 7 in the bronze medal game.

Lumberton’s Morgan Britt and Kasey West, along with Katlyn Jones from Purnell Swett and Brianna Brewer from St. Pauls were on the team. Lumberton assistant coach William Britt was an assistant coach for the team as well.

Region 7 scored six runs in the fifth inning to claim a 10-2 win to take third place from Region 4.

Both West and Morgan Britt had hits in the third-place game.

In the final game of pool play early on Wednesday, Region 4 beat Region 3 in an 11-3 ballgame.

Jones had four RBIs in the game with a two-run single in the third inning, and an RBI sacrifice in the sixth. She also added a run scored, after reaching on a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning. Britt had a single and a two-run double, while also adding a run scored in the win. West had an RBI groundout and a single.

Brewer registered 2 2/3 innings of work, and allowed two hits.
